Halt Bath Council's Housing Development of 3000 houses on Bath's Green Belt Farmland

Halt Bath Council's Housing Development of 3000 houses on Bath's Green Belt Farmland
The Issue
Our community have been stewards of this land for over 70 years. It is not just our livelihood, but a sanctuary for endangered species and the backbone of local businesses that support our community. Now, it is under threat from the Duchy of Cornwall and Bath Council's housing proposal 2024 which seeks to develop on green belt farmland and countryside area outside of Bath in South Burnett and Corston A39.
We are part of the Burnett & Corston Protection Alliance (BCPA), a community group dedicated to protecting Bath’s green belt, farmland, and countryside. The UK government has pledged to protect 30% of land for nature by 2030 as part of its commitment to biodiversity (source: UK Government). This proposed development contradicts this pledge.
Moreover, developing on greenbelt land can lead to urban sprawl, loss of local character, increased pollution levels due to more commuting (source: Campaign To Protect Rural England). We urge you not only as residents but also as stewards of this precious environment - help us stop this proposed development.
Sign the petition today and join us in preserving our heritage, supporting local businesses and protecting endangered species habitat. Together we can ensure that future generations will enjoy the beauty and benefits of Bath’s countryside.
