Hi All,
The Long Grove Village President published this about the project in the latest issue of “The Bridge”, the Long Grove Newsletter:
At the end of the last year the village board referred to the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals (PCZBA) an Application by Quik Trip for a planned unit development on the 15 acres just south of Sunset Foods. Quik Trip has already received approval for improvements at the Rt. 53 and Rt. 83 intersection from the state to provide access to the property. Quik Trip plans to develop all 15 acres and will have out lots for other businesses including potentially a hotel. Quik Trip’s focus is their fuel station, convenient store, and food service businesses. The board is waiting for feedback after their reviews from the PCZBA as well as the Architecture Commission. Because the parcels of land are in a TIF district, if approved, the development will bring incremental tax dollars to the village and would also be a source of additional sales tax revenues long term.Link to Newsletter Here
For those worried about congestion, a hotel is also potentially in the picture. All 15 acres will developed, starting with a fueling station (the fourth within effectively 2-3 blocks when you consider Mel’s Marathon, Shell and Casey’s).
We’ve reached so many people quickly, but there is still more to come. Please continue to share with your family, friends and neighbors. If you are in an HOA in Long Grove or Buffalo Grove, consider sending this to your HOA email, Facebook group or president to share.
If interested, you can also send emails with your thoughts to kstonehouse@longgroveil.gov. Include your name and address with a subject of ‘Re: Quik Trip Application’. If you have the space to do so, please consider writing a comment with your thoughts. I will be including these comments when I submit the petition. Of course, please also consider showing up to the meeting in Village Hall on Oct 1 at 7pm, whether you are a resident of Long Grove or a resident of a neighboring town that would be affected. This is not just a Long Grove issue.
