Halt Approval of QuikTrip Zoning Change by Long Grove Village Trustees

The Issue

We urgently need to bring the attention of the general public and concerned parties on the proposed zoning change in Long Grove, IL. This change, if approved by the Long Grove Village trustees, would allow the construction of a 24-hour QuikTrip gas station and truck stop next to the intersection on route 83.

Such an amendment in zoning regulations is not in the best interest of the community or the environment. The proposed site is close to homes and it can increase the levels of noise, light pollution and constant traffic, thus negatively impacting the quality of life for the residents. Moreover, gas stations at such proximity pose the risk of potential spills and leaks, harmful in the context of environmental safety (Environmental Protection Agency, US Government).

Taking a long-term view, the increased pollution, noise, and traffic congestion due to a 24-hour service station could also lead to deterioration in property values for the neighborhood (Urban Economics research). Preserving our residential character is vital for our collective future, fostering a community that enjoys peace and tranquility. Our appeal is to the Long Grove Village trustees: Please consider the vision of a serene and sustainable Long Grove before approving this proposed zoning change.

There will also be a public hearing at Village Hall on October 1st at 7pm. Please attend the meeting or contact the Long Grove to express concerns if it is possible for you.

We ask all the residents and supporters of Long Grove, IL, to sign this petition and help us to prevent this zoning change from being approved. Your signature can make a difference.
