Lately there has been a petition being shared around on this site to remove the scene of Michael Myers slaughtering firefighters in the upcoming Halloween Kills movie. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have it out for firefighters, they are true heroes but people need to remember a few things.

Number One: Michael Myers is a villain. He is supposed to do bad things so you hate him. Why would he spare the lives of people (as the other petition suggests he should do as they saved him from the house fire he was trapped in) when he could act like his character is supposed to and brutally murder them? 

Number Two: The other petition also suggests not only should Michael spare the firefighters but he should go on his way to just kill Laurie Strode. What has Laurie done to deserve to be hunted down by such a monster that they firefighters didn’t outside of choosing a profession?

Number Three: This is a work of fiction. The “firefighters” aren’t really being killed. They are just actors pretending to be firefighters. Now if someone doesn’t enjoy that scene, that’s fine. No one has to share the same opinions about movies however just because you don’t personally like something doesn’t mean you should be allowed to dictate what others can and cannot see. 

The reason I’m even making this post is the other petition has nearly 300 signatures to date and has been shared around numerous websites meaning it’s strength can only grow. I hope people will share this one to show that the scene should stay.
