Asking that the HRSB put forward a request to the Nova Scotia Department of Education for a new JL Ilsley High School

The Issue

We the undersigned represent a very concerned community of people comprised students, parents and alumni of JL Ilsley as well as concerned citizens of Spryfield and surrounding communities.

Whereas JL Ilsley is not just a High School but represents the heartbeat of our community;

Whereas JL Ilsley, which was built in 1971, has been staffed by excellent teachers and administrators and continues to educate and graduate first class students;

Whereas JL Ilsley is in deplorable condition and is not suitable for providing a safe working or learning environment;

Whereas Spryfield and surrounding communities deserve a school building that provides the staff and students a safe working environment;

Therefore Be it resolved that we, the residents of Spryfield and surrounding communities, are asking our school board representatives; Sheryl Blumenthal-Harrison, Cindy Littlefair, School Board Chair Melinda Daye and the entire Halifax Regional School Board recognize the importance of JL Ilsley to our community and put forward an official request to the Honorable Minister of Education Karen Casey and the Department of Education invest in our community, our school and our children and build a brand new school for Spryfield and surrounding communities.

With Respect, the undersigned
