Installing a traffic light at the main entrance to Mount Saint Vincent University is a matter of public safety. We've seen accidents and near-misses at this location for years. Some of us have been involved in them.

There is a high volume of traffic in this area at all times. The peak travel time for students, staff and faculty tends to correspond with the end of the work day for people traveling home from the city. As there are main bus stops on either side of the intersection, constant flow of buses adds to the chaos of the scene.

The current pedestrian crossing in ineffective and dangerous. Many motorists choose not to stop at the flashing pedestrian lights. As one of the busiest sections of the Bedford Highway, people often become frustrated in waiting and attempt to proceed through the intersection when it is not their turn, nor is it safe.

We must to come together and improve safety at this intersection ASAP. Our job is to let the people in power know we expect them to do it. Please add comments about accidents and near misses you have seen or been involved in. We need a written record of just how truly dangerous this intersection is. Thank you.
