Inborden Elementary School Gym is an abandoned gym in town, that is useless to the beautification of the community. Most parents do not feel comfortable with dropping their kids off or letting them walk to the park due to the increase of drugs, gangs, and violence in our community. We need more resources and recreation to occupy the minds and bodies of our youth to develope a positive atmosphere. The adults of the community shouldn't feel unmotivated to become healthier, because we don't have a more convenient place for fitness. Based on my observation, Halifax County has no use for The Old Inborden Gym. Instead of allowing the conditions to worsen and eventually cave in over the next few years. 

Bowen's Community Center's focus first and foremost will be tbe future and betterment of the community. All of which starts with the youth. We are aiming for equal opportunity for our kids. Giving them another outlet on a year around basis. With activities such as Basketball Training(Untapped Potential), Strength and Conditioning(S.O.S.C), Football Training(S.O.S.C). The project will also offer open gym/free play basketball, community events as well as more job opportunities for the community.

 For the past 8 years, I have been coaching football with the Enfield warriors(1 year with SHHS). And  realized that its bigger than wins and loses. Its the relationship you build with these kids, the young lives you can touch. That is most important to me. Once football season is over those relationships still remain. That is why i feel i have to be in position to have my doors open all year around. Keeping these kids busy, and our relationships stronger!

 I have presented my business plan of renovating the Old Inborden Gym to the board of education in the previous board meeting, on, June 7. They told me they will review my information and let me know. There are a few major companies and supporters of the project on stand by. Who are awaiting conformation so we can start the process. On Thursday June 17th I requested a follow-up meeting. This is another attempt to push the envelope. Let the voice of the people be heard!
