I want to change the runaway alert law. As of right now a runaway gets barely anything including media attention. I have been told by media that it is because there are so many runaways they can't put them all on the news and they don't want the public to not pay attention to the important kids who were abducted. I have been told by law enforcement that runaways don't get amber alerts because there are so many that it would desensitize the public to actual emergencies like abductions. Did you know that runaways make up over 80% of sex trafficking victims. Or how about 14 runaways die everyday. Something needs to change! There needs to be alerts for runaways, there needs to be better training for law enforcement on how to handle runaway situations. Parents need to be able to speak out about there children without having to pay thousands of dollars to do it!

The other issue that needs to be changed is how if asked by a parent a law enforcement agency is not allowed to intervene. I reported my daughter missing to the local pd....nothing was done. I reached out multiple times to the sherrifs office and was told the pd had turned down there help and only they could request help. Why can the parent not say hey I want more help?

I want to stand up for all parents whose children ran away but haven't been seen in months, or years! Please sign this petition so us parents can have a voice!
