Review The Shacklewell Arms' Licence

Review The Shacklewell Arms' Licence
The Issue
Most weekends my family are disturbed/woken up in the early hours by drunk people going to and from The Shacklewell Arms at 71 Shacklewell Lane, Dalston E8 2EB.
I’m all for people enjoying themselves and local businesses thriving but the disturbances have been going on for so long and are so regular and invasive that it’s really negatively effecting my family’s enjoyment of our home, our ability to get restful sleep and therefore our general quality of life.
When I moved to Shacklewell Lane 10 years ago, The Shacklewell Arms was a quiet pub. Now it's one of the busiest clubs/live music venues in one of the fastest growing nightlife destinations in London attracting a young heavy drinking crowd.
The Shacklewell Arms is currently licensed to sell alcohol until 6am at the weekend. Their license conditions and the type of venue it has become are completely inappropriate for it's location within a high-density residential setting.
This needs to change.
Hackney Council's Licensing Policy states that it aims “to prevent public nuisance and disorder”. In the case of The Shacklewell Arms, Hackney Council is failing local residents miserably.
For Hackney Council to agree to review The Shacklewell Arms’ licence two things need to happen…
1) It needs to be demonstrated that this is an issue that affects the wider community. If late night noise from the street has disturbed you, please sign my petition. The more people sign, the more Hackney Council will pay attention.
2) Every disturbance needs to be reported to Hackney Council:
· Noise Pollution 020 8356 4455 (all night)
· Licensing Services 020 8356 2431 (9am – 5pm)
I urge you to please sign this petition and log every disturbance with Hackney Council to build the body of evidence needed for a licensing review.
Only then can local residents remind Hackney Council and the owners of The Shacklewell Arms that the rights of residents to sleep undisturbed in their own homes deserves to be respected and prioritised.
