Hamsters deserve to live their best life, in the 2-3yrs they will live with you. Hamster cages on the shelves in pet stores are NOT properly sized in any way shape or form. Hamsters need at least 600sq in of unbroken floor space to live comfortably. They also need at least 6in of bedding to borrow properly. No cages in pet stores will give you this, unless you’re buying a 40 gallon breeder (fish tank). 
If Hamsters are left in a cage to small, they can start having issues. Have you ever watched your hammy bite at his cage? That’s more than likely because his cage is small and he is going through cage rage. Is your hammys back arched while running in that 6in wheel that came with your cage? That’s because your little guy needs at least a 11-12in wheel. (Too small of a wheel can cause serious back injury). So many things on the market aimed at Hamsters are COMPLETELY WRONG AND UNSAFE! Today I would like to focus on the super tiny cages (that should honestly only be used for vet visits). Let’s get these pet suppliers, to up their game and make these cages properly sized, without a huge influx in prices. After all they are already priced so high, for so little room. Once we get this done, we can focus on making wheels and toys safer for them. We wouldn’t put our children in clothes or shoes too small, so why leave our fur babies in a cage too small? Let’s give them the best 3yrs of life a hammy could ask for. Thank you so much for reading and signing the petition.
