Allocation of 20M to each Mp should instead go support health centers, doctors and nurses.

This is a petition to Government and Parliament, in reference to the Hon. Speaker's revelation, that "Parliament has allocated Shs10b to facilitate Parliament and MPs for Covid-19 emergencies".

Whereas, we, the petitioners do not doubt the important role that MPs can play in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe strongly that the 20 Million shillings (about  $5,000 US dollars), allocated to each MP, is misplaced. This is because, given the lock down, the MPs are unlikely to be effective mobilisers since many are not in their constituencies.

The Petitioners are also of the view, that since there is a National Covid - 19 Task Force  in place, (with committees in districts), whose  Frontline Ministry of Health was allocated 104b, (about $28 million)  instead of Shs 404b (about $109 Million) which they had requested, that money should go to the Task Force, and not to MPs.

Currently, district  committees require more support to adequately fight the Pandemic.

Many companies and individuals have responded to H.E. The President' s appeal to fight the Pandemic, by bringing the resources to the appointed Committee. The Parliament of Uganda, should not be seen to run a parallel system to what the President instituted.
