No Bharat Ratna to Late.M.Karunanidhi
No Bharat Ratna to Late.M.Karunanidhi
The Issue
Ever since Mr.M.Karunanidhi, the former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu passed away, a few celebrities and politicians have started a campaign to impress upon the Central Government to posthumously award "Bharat Ratna", the highest civilian award of the country. This has shocked right-thinking citizens of Tamilnadu and the rest of India who hold the Bharat Ratna award in the highest esteem. The public sentiment is against giving this honour to Mr.M.Karunanidhi, a politician who as Chief Minister of Tamilnadu was dismissed twice by the President, once on the grounds of corruption. Mr.Karunanidhi, a known atheist has never refrained from selectively criticizing Hinduism and its practices. He had even attempted to burn copies of the Indian Constitution and had hurled abuses to our armed forces when our Indian Peace Keeping Force(IPKF) was sent to Sri Lanka to protect the minority Tamils in the war-prone areas.
It must be the endeavor of every law abiding citizen of this country to protest against any campaign or lobbying to award Bharat Ratna to the deceased. I request all right thinking Indians to join this petition campaign for ensuring that the glory and pride of the highest civilian award of the country is not diluted for petty political reasons. Jai Hind.
