Save our neighborhood H-E-B! William Cannon @ South 1st Store closing April 2020

The Issue

Dear H-E-B Corporate,

We love our neighborhood H-E-B at William Cannon and South First Street! Sure, it's a little older and has a smaller selection than the newer store on the other side of I-35, but it's got character!

The employees who work at our neighborhood H-E-B recognize us and ask about our lives. It feels like we're family and it’s been real pleasant to develop relationships with one another over the years.

Trouble parking? Not at this location! Always TONS of spots just a short walk to the sliding doors. The door entrance and exit labels may be on the wrong sides, but every true Texan knows there are NO rules when you've run out of Topo Chico!

Our neighborhood H-E-B is exactly that - part of the neighborhood. It's always convenient to swing into, whether it's to knock-out the Sunday shopping list or just to make a quick stop and grab lunch.

The lines are never too long, even without those fickle self-checkout terminals.

We'd even say it's the most affordable H-E-B in Austin - definitely in South Austin!

We’re creatures of habit when it comes to our daily routines, and by closing our neighborhood H-E-B you’re running the risk of forcing us to spend our hard earned dollars elsewhere due to the convenience we’ve grown to appreciate at our local store.

Afterall, there’s a Sprouts just down the road (we hear their produce selection is pretty darn good) and a CVS across from Sprouts. They both sell milk, toilet paper, beer and snacks (we're just sayin')...

And yeah, we know what you’re thinking about your new store. “It’s not that far away from the William Cannon/South First Street location,” you’ll say...

But have you driven in Austin traffic lately?!

With love,

Your South Austin Neighbors
