H-E-B employees have ALWAYS been at the forefront of any catastrophic event and are absolutely essential to helping our communities stay safe, warm, and fed. We deserve disaster pay or to be paid hazard pay at the very least if we are risking our safety to make it into work to keep our communities up and running. There are many employees who aren’t able to make it in due to unsafe conditions such as having no power, no water, no food, or just unsafe road conditions! Not only are we dealing with unsafe weather conditions but we are also doing this all during a pandemic! How are employees expected to pay for property damage, medical bills, or just to replace spoiled food if we aren’t getting paid because we can’t safely make it to work? H-E-B needs to do more to take care of their partners in these very unfortunate times! At the end of the day when we get home from work (if we are even able to make it in) we are also apart of the community. We are more than just employees. We have homes to keep up with, children to feed, and our health and safety should always be considered.
