Asynchronous every other Tuesday

Asynchronous every other Tuesday
The Issue
This petition is in support of our mental, emotional, and academic health through implementing asynchronous days every other Tuesday. Everyday we are in a constant battle within our own minds, an endless battle that we’ve been trying to win while maintaining our social status and keeping our grades up, add a little pandemic and social anxiety to the mix and you’ve got just about every student in this school. Students have so much stress outside of school and school just adds more to their plate. Athletes have practice after school and other extracurricular activities to attend. They have problem at home and other things they need to focus on. Having this day would allow students to have all the weight of school lifted off their shoulders for a day. Therefore I propose this idea that every other week, we can have a scheduled asynchronous day.
Children may experience mental distress during the pandemic due to disruption in routines, loss of social contact, or stress in the household. I understand that some students enjoy coming to school rather than staying home due to problems in their household which is why this day will be optional. You can choose to stay in the comfort of your home or come to school to have the comfort of your teachers there incase you need help. Teachers will still come to school and be there incase you need their help throughout the day, they will be available through zoom for the students at home if they ever need help.
Everyone needs a break every once in a while. Learning through a pandemic has been hard and I can only imagine how hard it is to not only teach, but lead through one as well. By having an asynchronous day every other Tuesday we can decrease the amount of students in the building at a given time, we can alleviate the cloud of stress that blankets the school, and we can save money as a whole. Learning through a pandemic isn’t ideal, but by having these asynchronous days we can make it a little more tolerable.
