The Issue

On March 2nd, 2020, Guyanese turned out in their numbers to vote for a government of their choice, however, one month later, a number of shady activities, have prevented the final tabulation of votes and the credible declaration of a winner. As a result Guyanese are in a fluid situation not having a government in place and facing the Covid-19  pandemic. There have been numerous attempts by the ruling party APNU/AFC to frustrate a transparent tabulation of the votes of March 2, 2020 local and general elections, thereby leaving the country in limbo. Despite strong statements from heads of government, local  and international observers, and the Caribbean Community (Caricom), the APNU/AFC coalition continues to hinder the transparent counting of every vote  cast in March 2, 2020 elections. Currently, the APNU/AFC coalition is abusing the legal process of the courts to continue to prevent a transparent counting of the votes. Following a number dubious activities pertaining to the moving of ballot boxes, a number of Guyanese have left the comfort of their homes to guard those ballot boxes to ensure the integrity of the ballots in them. This should not be happening in a democratic society and  so we as an organization is asking for those who value democracy and the rule of law to sign this petition. For many Guyanese, their vote is the only voice they have.
