The two Petitions that ran simultaneously calling for removal of Phillips from office achieved remarkable success. Over 10,000 signatures in just 48 hours. It is clear that Scottsdale refuses to tolerate racism in our City.
On behalf of Mike Norton, who sponsored the other Petition, we thank you for your support.
Next Steps: With dozens of elected officials, candidates, and civic groups, supporting the call to remove Phillips from office, an Open Letter to our City, City Council and Mayor will be published on Monday and delivered to our City Council on Tuesday in the form of a formal Citizen's Petition calling for the harshest sanctions against Phillips including consideration of removal from office invoking the moral turpitude clause of our Charter.
We have proof that Phillips used City property and assets to develop and promote the racist rally that he conducted on the Civic Center lawn. We also know that he incited hundreds to defy a lawful order of the Mayor and in doing so put the health of hundreds of Scottsdale residents in danger.
This fight will not be over until Phillips is gone.
