Connor, a rescue dog who had been advertised on Gumtree, has been found dead, washed up on a beach stuffed inside a rucksack.  

I think Gumtree is an excellent organisation and useful resource for people wishing to dispose of unwanted possessions, inanimate possessions, but when it comes to live animals it is probably one of the most dangerous ways to rehome a pet imaginable.  

Recently I contacted a Golden Retriever rescue organisation and was told that they had far fewer dogs surrendered to them as people were advertising their dogs on Gumtree often with unhappy consequences.    

Ebay does not permit live animal advertising and Gumtree should ban it too. Please sign this petition to help persuade Gumtree to stop accepting live animal advertising.
