We 3 cousins, Anusha, Anaya and Leela, are second-generation immigrants who grew up speaking English, but our hearts are deeply tied to our ancestral roots in Gujarat, India. As we navigate our identity, we’ve realized how crucial it is to learn Gujarati, the language of our parents and grandparents. Unfortunately, resources for learning Gujarati are limited, especially on modern platforms like language learning apps that many of us use daily. Adding Gujarati to a popular app would give us—and countless others—the opportunity to connect with our heritage, communicate with older relatives, and preserve our cultural identity. Gujarati is spoken by millions worldwide, and including it would not only help young learners like us but also celebrate the language’s rich history and vibrant community. We urge you to support this petition and help make Gujarati accessible to learners everywhere.
