Dear Citizens of Gandhinagar, GJ,

Even after losing 50,000 Trees in just 5 years, with 54% green cover, Gandhinagar was India's tree capital in 2012.

The city which rose to fame as Asia's second greenest capital with more than 25 lakh trees some 25 years back is losing its proud identity of a green city in the blind race of becoming a smart city. Thousands of trees are being ruthlessly destroyed for the widening of roads and making flyovers. Whether they are required is another question, but is it smartness to destroy your available assets raised over decades to add new ones? Won't real smartness demand developing our cities without sacrificing its invaluable natural resources?

Dear citizens of Gandhinagar... wake up, stand up, speak up for your city, for your pride, for your future, for your life.
