Samantha Morris started this petition to Guinness World Records

On Sunday 28th April 2019 I took part in the London Marathon and was looking forward to setting a new Guinness World Record being the first person to wear the most t-shirts running a marathon.

I wore 46 t-shirts on the understanding that there was a present record of 25 t-shirts so I wanted to totally smash that number. I completed the London Marathon in 7:00:19.

Before the race; Guinness World Records counted and verified that I had 46 t-shirts on. Once I had finished I was unable to find a Guinness World Records representative.

I got in touch with Guinness World Records to let them know my achievement only to be told because I hadn’t completed it in under 6 hours - I was disqualified. I had to ask a number of times what time had the person who wore 25 t-shirts completed the marathon in.

Then the bombshell - nobody had attempted the record before! Knowing this - I was shocked and upset as Guinness World Records had led me to believe this was a record in place and all throughout my application it had showed 25 t-shirts as the present record.

Also to be told that the half marathon time limit for the most t-shirts is 3 hours so GWR simply doubled the time limit for a marathon stating 6 hours; this is unrealistic. As a multi-marathon runner; the second half of a marathon is never going to be the same time as the first half and with the additional effort of carrying extra weight all this distance too... this is quite simply not right!

As the first person to complete a marathon wearing 46 t-shirts; this record should be mine and my time should set the precedent for future attempts.

Guinness World Records is a huge corporation who I have been promoting since my application to attempt this record was accepted at the back end of last year.

Please sign this petition to show Guinness World Records that this record should be mine - thank you in advance.
