We are very pleased to announce that the protest against the Guinness Housing Association that was due to take place yesterday at the Homes Fair in Olympia was cancelled because Marian has won her campaign! On the eve of the protest, after months of insisting that Marian could not be rehoused due to her immigration status, Guinness finally offered Marian an affordable flat in the local area for herself and her 2 children. Huge stress has been heaped on Marian and her children, thousands of pounds has been wasted on legal fees trying to force her out, but hundreds of people have also protested, petitioned and supported Marian's campaign to resist her eviction and she has stood her ground and Guinness have been forced to back down. This is an amazing victory for a determined woman, community solidarity and protest action. Well done to Marian and her 2 young children and everyone involved in this long campaign against the social cleansing of a whole estate. I can now have a beautiful sleep that I have been deprived in a long while.
