Petition: End the Trauma of the System — Demand a Modern Standard of Care for UK Domestic Abuse Survivors
To: The UK Government, The Home Office, and The Ministry of Justice

Every ten minutes, a woman is killed by a partner or family member. In the UK, the system designed to protect victims of domestic abuse is failing. Survivors are forced into a "Negative Loop"—a fragmented, bureaucratic maze that re-traumatises them at every turn. They are forced to repeat their story to police, then to social services, then to legal aid, losing critical evidence and their own sense of control along the way.

This is not just inefficient; it is inhumane. We have the technology to do better.

We, the undersigned, demand the UK Government legislate a Survivor's Bill of Rights for the Digital Age to fix this broken system. We demand:

The Right to a Single, Secure Point of Truth: Mandate that all police and support services must accept evidence from accredited, secure, survivor-controlled digital platforms. This will end the "Negative Loop" of re-telling trauma and ensure evidence is preserved.

The Right to Privacy and Control: Legislate the "zero-knowledge" privacy principle as a requirement for any digital service handling survivor data. This means the service provider is technologically incapable of accessing user-encrypted data, putting control back where it belongs: in the hands of the survivor.

The Right to Immediate, Proactive Support: Fund and mandate the integration of modern digital safety tools, like automated safety check-ins and discreet alert systems, into standard victim support protocols. Support cannot only be available during office hours.

It is time to create a justice system that protects and empowers survivors, rather than compounding their trauma. We urge you to embrace these principles and work with survivor-led organisations like Guardian Angel to build a safer, more compassionate future for all.

Please like, share  it all makes a difference.
