Thank you to everyone who signed the petition and attended both of the RB Town Commission meetings.  It was a shining example of local advocacy at its BEST!!! I applaud all of you!

As you are aware by now, the Redington Beach Town Commissioners voted to move forward with their update to the ordinance which bans tents/canopies on all of Redington Beach (and allows condo associations to make their own decisions) .  They voted to approve this  even when it was very clear that the majority of RB citizens were NOT in favor of this update.

The vote went as follows:

  • Mayor David Will-YES
  • Vice Mayor Richard Cariello-NO
  • Tim Kornijtschuk-YES
  • Tim Thompson-ABSENT
  • Jim Murray-ABSENT

As residents, we have the opportunity to exercise our right  to repeal this update.  Please see Sec. 19 of the Town Charter below:

Our next steps will be to generate the petition in the next few weeks and then garner the qualified signatures.  TO SIGN THIS NEXT PETITION, YOU MUST BE A "qualified voters of the Town at the last preceding presidential election".

The following Facebook website will be used to communicate updates regarding this initiative.  Please like and follow for updates.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We are NOT in support of anything that denies CUSTOMARY USAGE of our beaches and believe that all residents have rights to the beach. Our sole goal is to allow tents/canopies on Redington Beach.
