We must stop the disgraceful delaying tactics of the Government over social care through this vital petition:

Politicians of all parties have ignored the decrepit state of social care in the UK for decades. According to Age UK nearly 30,000 older people died in 2024 while waiting for the social care support which could have extended their lives. Even when it is agreed, it may only be for a fleeting visit once a day. 

When the Government took office it immediately ditched its promise to bring in a cap on the lifetime costs of care, to stop family homes being sold to pay for astronomical residential homes fees. And it is ignoring the 11% of hospital beds filled by older people who could go home if only there was social care support available.  Instead it set up a Social Care Commission to look at the whole question of social care. This is a blatant delaying tactic because Labour has decided not to put any extra funds into social care until 2030/31!

Silver Voices is determined to expose this behaviour and we have put a new petition on the official Government website calling for the Commission to be scrapped and urgent decisions taken on the crisis. We need to reach 10,000 signatures to get the Government to respond.
