We continue to monitor the situation on the future of the Triple Lock and defend its continuation at every opportunity. But Silver Voices combats age discrimination wherever it occurs!
A new controversy will land this autumn with the proposal that all over 70s will have to have a compulsory eye test before having their driving licences renewed. No evidence has been brought forward so far to justify why older people should be subject to this change, and no-one else, and there is a suspicion that pensioners are being made scapegoats for a wider road safety problem. Silver Voices has criticised this proposal as it stands, but we will be polling all our members next week to decide whether we should launch a campaign against it or not. You need to be a Silver Voices member to take part in the poll but if you join by next Tuesday (19 August) you will be able to vote.
