Rishi Sunak's speech to the Tory Party Conference failed to mention any of the challenges facing older people. He avoided making the anticipated confirmation that the Triple Lock would be applied in full this year, or that the Conservatives were committed to it for the next Parliament. So we are still none the wiser about what will happen next April. The Prime Minister also ignored the social care crisis which his predecessor has promised would be fixed 'once and for all' in this Parliament. It is important that we keep the pressure on the Government until the state pension rise is agreed for next April, as we have learned that the Prime Minister is susceptible to last minute U-turns on major policies.
