Our Primary Goals:

1. That all teaching collections and research utilize consensual skeletal donors. Currently, consensual skeletal donors are minimally used for hands on osteological instruction which directly defies the wishes of donors whom hoped to be part of the classroom experience for anthropology students. The inclusion of these donors in teaching collections is vital to honoring their donation. 

2. As the Forensic Anthropology Center (FAC) has continued to receive large sums of funding, totaling over half million in 2023, their research has failed to benefit the broader Appalachian community. Considering that Appalachians makes up the majority of skeletal donors, it is concerning how underrepresented their interest are in ongoing research. We hope our efforts will lead to research that brings light to massive healthcare disparities, the opiate crisis, rampant poverty, and other critical issues that impact the daily lives of Appalachians.
