This is a personal plea, rooted in the deep-seated belief that no person should have to face inequality. We write out of a troubling observation - the fact that our society often accords more freedom to a pet than to a woman. Just like a dog is entitled to freely roam wherever it pleases, it's about time we allow women equal degree of liberty. This is a disturbing comparison, but it encapsulates the current state of affairs for a considerable number of women around the world.

As per the World Economic Forum's 2020 Global Gender Gap Report, gender parity is still 99.5 years away. Women are not only underrepresented in politics, but they also face higher risks of violence, limited economic opportunities, and partial access to health and education.
