Guam Against Malpractice started this petition to Guam Legislature and

IN A MEDICAL MALPRACTICE CASE ON GUAM, THE LAW FORCES ARBITRATION PROCEEDINGS WHICH IS AN OUT-OF-COURT PROCESS TO SETTLE DISPUTES.

The costs, which could reach TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON THE FAMILIES FILING FOR THE PROCEEDINGS - which in recent cases are the parents of children who were seen and diagnosed by doctors before they died and families who suffer the lost of loved ones due to the negligence of health care providers and hospitals on Guam.

THE FINANCIAL BURDEN IS AN UNREASONABLE HURDLE AND A DETERRENT FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE SEEKING RELIEF DUE TO EXTREMELY HIGH COSTS AGAINST NEGLIGENCE OR MALPRACTICE THAT HAPPENS ON GUAM.

YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES ARE NOT PROTECTED. THE LAW PROTECTS THE DOCTORS, AND HEALTH CARE WORKERS FROM ANY FAULT ON THEIR PART, MAKING THEM NEGLIGENT AND COMPLACENT, THEREFORE PROVIDING THE LOWEST QUALITY OF HEALTHCARE ON GUAM

Let's face it, you and I both know someone who says HEALTHCARE ON GUAM IS POOR AND LACKING, GUAM LACKS THE RESOURCES AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, even without anyone saying it, you and I both know that MEDICAL CARE ON GUAM IS NO GOOD because we all know someone who prefers being seen at a hospital off-island.

IF YOU ARE SUFFERING AT THE EXPENSE OF NEGLIGENCE AND LOW QUALITY HEALTHCARE ON GUAM OR HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER SUFFERING OR HAVE SUFFERED AT ANY HOSPITAL OR HEALTHCARE FACILITY ON GUAM, IT IS TIME TO TAKE ACTION!!!

SIGN THE PETITION TO MAKE THE CHANGE TO LIFT THE MEDICAL MALPRACTICE MANDATORY ARBITRATION ACT, BECAUSE NEITHER YOU OR I, NOR OUR LOVED ONES ARE PROTECTED

Notable quotes:

"The Organic Act expressly provides protections found in the First to Ninth Amendments, including the right to trial by jury in civil cases in the Seventh Amendment"

"However, the MMMA carves out a class of civil cases (medical malpractice cases) which causes plaintiffs to go through extreme, very costly, and time-consuming procedures before such cases can even be filed. These limitations clearly obstruct a citizen's right to a trial by jury in a civil case...."
