I fostered a litter of kittens for this shelter, a shelter that is 90 minutes away as they were desperately needed, my girlfriend works there. It was 6 kittens with no mom, approximately 4 weeks old. 2 days after having one, one died overnight. He was the runt, things happen. Then I noticed others losing weight and getting sick. Brought them to the emergency vet 4 times at early early AM hours of the night because I couldn’t sleep knowing they were so sick. One was diagnosed with distemper. I lost 4 of them, syringe feeding nutrical, food, water, antibiotics etc. but 2 of them lived. Grayson and Squeakers. Right before Thanksgiving the shelter asked for them back due vaccinations and neutering/spay, I thought nothing of it. I let the shelter know my intention of adopting them and keeping them as we have been through so much together and there would be no way I could do that to the kittens. I filled out adoption paperwork.

       The executive director never called me back once, upon my pleading, crying and multiple phone calls, even me visiting the shelter once asking for her. That was because they adopted my kittens out to someone else without asking me, or notifying me or my girlfriend. I know there’s nothing I can do to get my kittens back and praying to god they were kept together and are in a great home, but it’s eating me alive with worry, I just want my babies back. They were my family and absolutely spoiled to death. The litter and I went through so much together with their siblings literally dying every day. 

       I want Ashley removed, I want her fired as this is all her fault. A 23 year old with no qualifications should not be an executive director of a whole animal shelter. There are multiple allegations of sexual harassment that has been swept under the rug from multiple employees. I am 27 years old, own my own housing building, have a great job, a great truck, there were 0 reasons besides her negligence and ignorance to adopt them out and not return my calls except that she had something against my girlfriend, a WORKER, not ME but were used against me. There are multiple issues on the news regarding this shelter, past and present to them finding dead dogs in the field in back and still having a an incinerator on property as a nokill shelter.

       I’m livid and honestly heartbroken. I stayed up all night feeding them, to the point where I sat there and comforted one as he crossed to the rainbow bridge right in front of me, making a sound I never have heard before, before it lost its last breath. Obviously this post is emotional and I’m crying typing this. But I just don’t know what else to do. They stole my kittens and I will never foster with them again. I am currently in contact with the local news spreading this story and have an interview to meet with them on Thursday and exploring legal options.
