Legislation protecting fathers rights in the Family Court System.

Legislation protecting fathers rights in the Family Court System.
Why this petition matters
This petition asks lawmakers in the State to introduce legislation that protects fathers' rights. The Friend of The court system in Michigan must hold mothers accountable for violating court-ordered parenting time, with the same severity as fathers that don't pay their child support. By not doing this, the State is saying that fathers are only around to pay support, and their influence in the child's life isn't as significant. Parental alienation is real, and it happens often. This type of abuse has a profound impact on children, so if the State truly wants to do what's in the "best interest of the child." they must mandate mothers to be held accountable for their actions.
What good is it for a court to find that the mother did violate the court-ordered parenting time, but she only will lose a weekend of parenting time as punishment for her actions? Many times, fathers go months without seeing their child(ren) due to parental alienation, how does an extra weekend make up for that lost time?
On the other hand, if a father fails to pay child support, he can't get a license, its placed on his credit, he faces possible jail time, and could potentially receive a felony record.
By not addressing these fundamental discrepancies within the family system, it diminishes the role of a father to only a provider. Please sign this petition to seek changes in the unfair practices of the Friend of the Court system.
