The Issue

Students at Wayne State University living on campus are paying on average $30,000 a year. With tuition rising 3% per semester we are still subject to poor living conditions. One of two of the main elevators responsible for carrying all the residents from up to 11 stories down to the main exits have had multiple instances of it dropping floors. While the second elevator has remained completely inoperable. The students at Wayne state university have raised these concerns multiple times with Wayne State senior faculty to no avail. Students often find themselves climbing the stairs to reach the 11th floor. Residents often find themselves plagued with poor living conditions. Resident often put in multiple work orders to have routine maintenance done to their units to no avail, maintenance personal often fails to address these orders. Residents are still expected to pay full price for rent despite these issues plaguing residents. We demand the housing costs to be subsidized due to these inadequate conditions, We also demand Maintenance Personal follow through with work orders, as well as both elevators to be fully operational and safe enough for residents to get where they need to be.
