Two experts will hold a community forum addressing the anticipated environmental impacts and health risks that our community will face if the proposed Exxon/SABIC petrochemical complex is built less than 1.5 miles from three GPISD schools. The forum will be held February 20th from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Portland Community Center Ballroom, 2000 Billy G. Webb Drive in Portland, Texas. Hosted by Portland Citizens United, a grassroots group opposing the proposed location of the plant, the forum’s speakers will include Ilan Levin and Neil Carman, PhD. Ilan Levin is a former EPA attorney who currently serves as the Associate Director of the Environmental Integrity Project. Neil Carman is a former TCEQ industrial plant investigator and currently serves as Clean Air Director of the Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club. After the presentations, attendees may ask questions. This public event is free. No reservations are required.
