Portland, TEXAS: No Tax Abatements and Tax Incentives for Exxon Mobil and SABIC

Exxon Mobil and SABIC (Saudi Arabia Basic Industries Corp.) want to build a massive steam cracker plant and a polyethylene plant off of Highway 181 and Wildcat Drive. This petrochemical complex will dwarf the towns of Gregory and Portland, Texas and diminish our quality of life forever. The plants will create high levels of light and noise pollution as well as negatively impacting our water and air. There are homes, neighborhoods, and schools close to the proposed site. We believe that our children's and grandchildren’s health is more important than money. We do not want Exxon Mobil or SABIC to receive any tax abatements or incentives from Gregory-Portland ISD or San Patricio County. Additionally, we do not want our city or San Patricio County to provide Exxon Mobil or SABIC any water or waste water services.
