As you all know, Texas has seen unprecedented freezing weather. Many Texans have been without power and water for days and the situation is dire for many. Firefighters in Abilene, Texas had to stand and watch a house burn down because they had no water to fight the fire.

ERCOT had failed Texas. And now it seems a that they are saying they will raise our rates to pay for their failure.

This will make bills unaffordable. In a time where we virtually all have damages to our houses and business, we need support to help us fight this.

They should NOT be allowed to raise our rates to cover their failure. 

-Gas stations are not allowed to raise their prices and price gouge after a hurricane.
-Amazon and other retailers removed postings where people price gouged Clorox wipes, PPE, and hand sanitizer during the pandemic.

This is a similar situation. They should not be allowed to raise our prices after this natural disaster and what seems to be poor planning and management in their part. There are many stories in the news about how their "frugality" has made things worse. How they would g return power to Coleman, Texas until the city told the public what was happening and their was a public outcry. That is just one of many stories. 

Their behavior is unconscionable.

if this is allowed, it is essentially kicking us while we are down and letting Texans know that their elected officials will not fight for them.

Families are already still struggling from the effects of the pandemic, and it is unconscionable to hurt the Texas people more.
