Andre did not have a criminal record at all prior to this incident. He has played basketball his entire life. He decided to play professionally for a team called the l.a push from the American Basketball Association's league. He never knew that at the time the team's owner was involved in fraudulent activity and did not know he had a prior criminal record. But in seeking advancement in his profession he unwittingly became a part of the owner's fraudulent machinations. He went to trial on a charge of 4 counts of mail fraud for an amount of 3600 dollars. Because he did not have a criminal record this would have given him 0 to 6 months or probation. But to give him more time at his sentencing Because he was Jamaican descent, they gave him an enhancement of 5 million dollars in restitution, a figure that was never mentioned in trial at all,which gave him a sentence of 6 years which would separate him from his children and family for a very long time. 

They also sent him to multiple immigration facilities which has destroyed his health, and caused him now to be diagnosed with kidney disease. They also plan on deporting him back to Jamaica. Andre has not once served his time in a regular prison, This is the type of systematic injustice that minorities are subjected to by the system: over-sentencing and malicious prosecution. There is an incalculable amount of precious, valuable lives subjected to this situation that need help but it is hard for them to advocate their own voice because of their incarceration. Andre needs us to fight for him, THIS FACILITY BIG SPRING FLIGHT LINE TEXAS CORRECTIONAL, has a bad REPUTATION, of mistreating people who they feel are immigrants, that can’t afford financially, to have a Legal Attorney. Which caused a few deaths in this facility because the correctional officers and the WARDEN BOBBY THOMPSON has abused them and refused to give them medical attention, which has been reported in the Texas news. The heart braking part about Andre's case is the person who orchestrated the whole thing was only sentenced 48 months and therapy, how is that ??

America does not have to function in this way. We are better than this. We need to look deep down inside and figure out why we think we need to default to incarcerating minorities that are already struggling and rob them of a chance to succeed in life. Let's invest in their future rather than deprive them of it. Let's keep minority families together so that black and Hispanic kids grow up with fathers that are there to tell them right from wrong.We need to stop the cycle of minority incarceration leading to failure in life once and for all. Especially if one of the main motivates, for it is The profit. We need justice and we need everyone to sign this petition and help Andre get back home to his beautiful children whos suffering behind this !!!!
