A Texas law banning most abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy went into effect on Wednesday, despite the 1973 Supreme Court decision that established a constitutional right to the procedure, making the state the most restrictive in the nation in terms of access to abortion services (NYT).

Us Texas women are being stripped of our rights. Our body autonomy is being taken away. Male- dominated lawmaking on women’s reproductive rights is happening right here. When other countries treat women poorly and take their rights away, our country intervenes. Such outrageous acts are happening to women in Texas. 
This law does many harms to women and even approved bounty for any person who is willing to report an abortion, even if the reporter has nothing to do with the pregnancy. 

We believe that women should have a choice to make medical decisions about their own bodies. We do not want government to regulate our bodies. Us Texas healthcare providers do not want to be sued or charged criminally for providing safe care to our patients who may choose abortion. 

The worst thing about this Heartbeat law is the lack of consideration for circumstances. It makes no consideration on issues such as rape, incest, fetus not compatible with life, selective reduction, support system, finances, education, employment, childcare, healthcare, and so much more. 

We demand autonomy over our bodies. We want to have a choice in abortion and the opportunity to receive safe and efficient healthcare. We want this law gone! Let’s not push women backwards in time. Let’s focus on maternal mortality, women education, creating jobs, maternal leaves, paternal leaves, maternity benefits, and so many other pressing issues for women.
