Executive Order Unilaterally Closing of Bars Should be Repealed

The Issue

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has issued Executive Orders to close ALL bars, regardless of size OR the ability to follow social distancing recommendations.  This Order should be repealed and changed to allow small businesses and Veteran Organizations to open their bars ONLY if they can maintain the social distancing like we were EASILY able to do when we initially re-opened in May.

Small business are closing - some forever.  Veteran Organizations (VFW, American Legion, Etc.) are unable to assist Veterans, their Families and the Community as we normally can.  Some are in danger of losing their Charter - similar to closing forever because a Charter is ONLY allowed by Congressional Action.  Once the Charters are lost we will lose another Veteran Post that tries to help other Veterans.

This is slowly and painfully killing off small businesses AND Veteran Posts.  There are many employees that are not able to make it without their jobs.  Utilities are still paid.  Insurance is still paid. Rent is still paid - but there is no money coming in.  If you were not ALLOWED to go to work but still had to pay your bills, what would YOU do?!

As long as the social distancing policies can be followed a bar should be allowed to open - There are people FLOODING restaurants - and sitting at the BAR - just so they can go and have a drink - Why are they exempt?  Across the board they should be closed - OR they should be OPEN FOR BUSINESS - we just want to go to work - Please help us make this happen.

There are indoor gyms that are PACKED with people playing basketball, volleyball, martial arts... how is THAT staying 6 feet apart?  Wearing masks?  I think not.  I added pictures of one such indoor gym that has a parking lot that is PACKED from mid afternoon until late in the evening - even taking up space on other people’s land in order to park - yet a small bar with 12 people cannot open?  How is this fair?
