Community Attendants should be paid no less than $13 an hour and should receive benefits.

Community Attendants should be paid no less than $13 an hour and should receive benefits.
The Issue
Community Attendants:
- are essential for the integration of people with disabilities and older Texans into every aspect of
Texas communities.
- Texas is currently experiencing difficulties in recruiting and retaining to meet the needs of the
growing disability and aging community.
- The vast majority are paid a little over minimum wage $8.00/hour,
- have no health insurance,
- do not get vacation or sick days.
We believe that:
Community Attendants should be paid no less than $13 an hour and should receive benefits.
We ask that you work with the 85th Texas Legislature to assure adequate funding for Community
Attendants and that recruiting and retaining Community Attendants is one of the
Legislature’s highest priorities. Thank You!
