Please help us to SAVE the whitetail deer in Texas now!

In the past 6 years, approximately 20,000 whitetail deer (from deer farms/breeding facilities) have been tested for CWD. Not a single case of CWD was found.

When one "positive" was found in Medina County, the Texas Parks & Wildlife adopted what many believe is a SCORCHED EARTH policy and an attack on deer farmers/deer breeders with their ORDER to kill hundreds (and the number could well be more than 1,000) whitetail deer in order to test for CWD.

To date, there have been a total of 4 whitetail deer in the entire state that have tested positive for CWD. But TPWD said that ALL of the deer tested had to be KILLED. 

Yet, there is an ALTERNATIVE to this "kill to test" practice with 2 forms of LIVE testing (rectal and/or tonsil biopsies) with 90+% accuracy.

Please sign the petition here and demand that effective immediately ALL whitetail deer that have been ordered to be killed (for testing) be LIVE TESTED FIRST! Then, kill the deer. 

Once the results from the LIVE tests are in, they can be compared with the "kill to test" results to determine if KILLING the deer was really necessary. With YOUR support of LIVE TESTING, it can hopefully become the "gold standard" (rather than rush-to-kill) to determine the diseased animals without the senseless killing of perfectly healthy whitetail deer. 

Further, for the safety of the entire wild deer herd in Texas, demand that the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department test an EQUAL PERCENTAGE of free-ranging whitetail deer (during the upcoming deer season) to get an accurate picture of what areas in Texas are truly affected by CWD. Keep in mind that CWD was first discovered in Texas in FREE RANGING deer (years before one case was found in a deer farm/deer breeding facility).

If X% of deer farm/deer breeder deer are tested for the disease, demand that the same percentage of FREE RANGE deer are tested. After all, free range hunters should embrace this idea if they truly care about wildlife and truly want to learn more about the extent of the reach of CWD. An estimated 600,000 whitetail deer will be harvested here in Texas in the coming months. Please demand that our Texas Parks & Wildlife test ALL whitetail deer in equal percentages with those they demand from deer farmers/deer breeders.
