Good afternoon. We are now close to 150 signatures which is amazing, thank you all. Please continue to share the petition, the more voices we have then the louder we become.
The school has now sent out the letter that I mentioned at the start of the petition, I have attached it so you can read it for yourself. Some of what is in the letter is agreeable and reasonable but there's a few things that I'd like to point out. The costs they have used are for year 7 pupils, children who have just left Junior School and are starting their new school in September. Why have they done this? Quite simply because after that age prices increase. Children are beginning their growth spurts, my own daughter who was smaller than most in year 7 is now wearing adult sized clothing. The costs that I've used are reasonable for a child at around 14-15 years old. Their breakdown of costs also doesn't take into consideration replacements for damaged or outgrown clothes (the price of the shoes they suggest would tell me that they'd need replacing often). They state that the jumper is optional and there is no pressure to provide it but what if the child wants a jumper? It's going to cost £16 for that privelage? Why? What is the logic behind an optional jumper being a premium item and not an off the peg one?
It seems to me that the school would rather us seek charity than to have a reasonable choice of clothing for our children. The PE kit for instance is more expensive than the uniform! They only do PE once a week! Why is this?
The school uniform and equipment bill could be lowered substantially if the school dropped the premium items it DEMANDS parents buy. The school should not be isolating children for not having the correct uniform, this is punishing the child for the parents decision. It's a form of blackmail. Not only is it a disgusting practice but it further alienates students from their peers. This practice must stop! https://drive.google.com/file/d/138vwy6OICxKRxuOFeXyZbRfhZKVLd9v0/view
