Install stop signs to curb speeding in Byram

The Issue

The recent overturned vehicle accident on Mead Avenue in the New Lebanon School zone is yet the latest and most serious example of the dangers posed by the blatant disregard drivers have for the safety of Byram's residents.

We are calling upon First Selectman Fred Camillo and the Department of Public Works to improve Byram’s traffic safety—chiefly, for the town to place stop signs along Mead Avenue and other speeding hotspots. Byram is a walking neighborhood, and traffic and pedestrian safety are at the top of our list when it comes to our quality of life.

This is just one of several accidents that have happened in Byram recently. Several cars have hit and injured pedestrians on Byram’s increasingly busy streets.

We cannot risk the next accident being fatal. We urge you to sign our petition to make Byram’s streets safer.

If you have experienced an accident, traumatic event, or property damage due to speeding in our neighborhood, we want to hear from you.
