Greener, Cleaner Scotland – Nature First Petition Call to Action

The Issue

Scotland’s future is at stake—let’s take action NOW! Scotland’s breathtaking landscapes, vibrant communities, and rich biodiversity deserve protection. However, without bold action, pollution, poor waste management, and irresponsible urban planning threaten our cherished environment. The “Conservative Friends of Africa Scotland (CFOAS)” rallies for immediate government action to enact “urgent environmental reforms” prioritising sustainability, accountability, and community-driven solutions.

Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 should also be potholes free!

What We Demand:

✅ Tougher Fly-Tipping Penalties & Enforcement
Implement heavier fines and efficient tracking systems to firmly address and end illegal dumping. Fly-tipping is a blight on our environment and it is high time that our legal system reflects the severity of this crime. Enforcement should be prioritised to create deterrents robust enough to effect real change.

✅ More Public Refuse Bins & Cleanup Support
Councils must expand waste disposal options by providing more public refuse bins and enhancing support for community clean-up initiatives. Accessible disposal points significantly reduce waste mishandling, and empowered local groups stand ready to maintain cleanliness if supported effectively.

✅ Corporate Accountability for Waste Pollution
Businesses need to shoulder their share of responsibility by participating in mandatory take-back schemes. These systems will ensure that companies reclaim liability for packaging found in fly-tipped waste, thereby reducing pollution at its source. Also for companies including manufacturers to contributes at source through a set levy dedicated to environmental use give directly to local government for environmental cleanup & other environmental use.

✅ Roadside Litter Monitor - Transport Scotland
Transport Scotland should introduce a proactive monitoring system specific to roadside litter. Including cameras at key areas to issue immediate fines. Regular checks and swift responses to littering along Scotland’s roads will help maintain the natural beauty of our countryside. It should be in collaboration with agencies such as SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency).

✅ “Make Scotland pothole free” For The Scottish Government to create a special department within Transport Scotland to liaise with Local Governments authorities to stop the root source of potholes. Implying adequate funds for road maintenance and fines for construction companies who create potholes on our roads or use inferior methods, materials etc to fix potholes. The Government should introduce a money back guarantee system.

The time to act is now. Without swift reforms, Scotland faces further environmental degradation. These measures are essential steps toward safeguarding our natural heritage. Let’s hold our government and corporations accountable for a cleaner, greener, pothole free Scotland. Sign the petition and demand action today!
