I was born and raised in Green Island chose to raise my own children, Carol Melina and Angelo, here. They are ages 11 and 9 respectively. They attend St. Mary's Catholic School in Waterford. I pay tuition to St. Mary's and school taxes to Green Island. I vote in school elections and support fundraisers for Heatly School. This year, unbeknownst to me, the Green Island School Board voted not to provide Folmsbee's yellow bus my children rather provide swiper cards to allow them to take the CDTA public bus with strangers at the ages of 9 and 11 and have to transfer buses to get to a school that is only 3.5 miles away. This is completely unsafe and irrational for elementary school children. No financial gain should come before the safety of our children. If you are a Green Island resident please assist me in ensuring my children are afforded safe transportation they're entitled to by law and sign this petition. I sincerely appreciate your support. The next Green Island School Board meeting is Thursday at 7pm if you would like to attend in support of this.
