Green Day to Reschedule Gold Coast Show and Add Show in Townsville

The issue

As a resident of Far North Queensland and an ardent fan of entertainment, I have witnessed firsthand the disappointment of Green Day fans when the The Saviours Tour show on the Gold Coast was cancelled due to the unforeseen occurrence of Cyclone Alfred.

Moreover, the additional financial stress that ensued for many who had already spent generously on travel and accommodation added salt to the wound.

Green Day's fans, ranging from seasoned followers to younger enthusiasts, had been anticipating this performance for quite some time.

To experience a cancellation is devastating, let alone when it is the band’s first Australian visit after the COVID-forced cancellation of the Hella Mega Tour.

The financial implications of these cancellations touch all fans, but particularly impact the younger fans and the regional fans; many of whom had saved up for a significant length of time to attend.

Therefore, we call upon Green Day to not only reschedule the cancelled concert at the CBUS Stadium on the Gold Coast, but also to add a new show at Townsville’s Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

This will create a more accessible event for those fans from regional far north and central Queensland, who had only experienced their own flood devastation a month prior to this event.

Moreover, this will not only cut cost implications for those fans who had already expended so much to travel to the GC before the 12th hour cancellation; but also provide an opportunity for even more fans to bear witness to the exhilarating three-hour performance of this beloved iconic band.

Please sign this petition to show your support and urge Green Day and Live Nation to consider this proposal.
