My name is Paul and I have been a Green Day fan for thirty years. Green Day is my favorite band of all time and I have a large collection of Green Day music, merchandise, and have attended dozens of Green Day and Green Day-related concerts over the course of the past three decades. I am a very passionate fan to say the least. I love the band with every fiber of my being.

That being said, myself and multitudes of fans would love for the band to please officially release the "Cigarettes and Valentines" album in full. For those that don't know the story, Cigarettes and Valentines was recorded prior to American Idiot and then scrapped when the master recordings were lost or stolen, leading to the band to start over and record American Idiot. The master recordings were later recovered. While some songs supposedly intended for Cigarettes and Valentines eventually surfaced as B-Sides and bonus tracks for American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, Green Day fans became aware of the existence of multiple other songs when a photo of a "B-Sides" master CD owned by "Heart Like a Hand Grenade" director John Roecker was posted online several years ago. Among the titles listed on the disc was the Cigarettes and Valentines title track, which was performed live during the 21st Century Breakdown tour and a live recording of the song was released on the "Awesome As F*ck" live album.

When the 20th Anniversary Edition of American Idiot was announced, many fans held out hope that the remaining songs intended for Cigarettes and Valentines would be included. We were understandably disappointed when it wasn't, as the Cigarettes and Valentines story is part of the lore of American Idiot. I personally feel that it was a major missed opportunity. Many Green Day fans have awaited the official release of the unreleased Cigarettes and Valentines material for twenty years. The time is right for this material finally see an official release.

We, the passionate Green Day fans, please respectfully request ONE of the following actions from the band:

• Release the Cigarettes and Valentines album in full.
• Release the studio version of the title track digitally to accompany the release of the American Idiot 20th Anniversary Edition.
• If neither, release an official statement from the band on why they are choosing not to release the remaining unreleased material from the album at this time, if ever.
