Green Converse -Remember Uvalde
Why this petition matters
“Maite Rodriguez, a lover of animals and the environment, was killed during the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. She often wore a pair of green (her favorite color) high-top Converse shoes with a heart drawn in marker over her right toes.” NPR (June 7, 2022)
Let’s use “green high top Converse” for change. Let use them as a reminder so that we never forget the tragedy that killed 19 children and two teachers. Let’s use the “green hi-top” sneaker to remind us that Maria and all of her classmates and teachers should have been here today, but instead had their lives cut short taken by someone who had easy access to weapons that cause mass casualties. Let’s use this time to make necessary changes, have Conversations that lead to action and protect our children in school. I am asking each of you to sign this petition that honors Maite Rodriguez and all who lost their lives so senselessly. Converse has always been a sneaker brand that has been associated with social justice and responsibility. We want Converse to support the Uvalde community that has been affected by donating a portion of sales of every green converse to those affected by this tragedy. We want Converse to us their platform to initiate CONVERSEAtions about gun control and mental health. We want anyone who sees a pair of green converse to be reminded that children and teachers lost their lives in what was supposed to be a safe zone. We want to remind our leaders that this is unacceptable and we don’t want another Uvalde to ever happen again. It’s not enough to just be saddened by events, we must move to action
