There are dog rescue centres in Greece and the islands to save and re-home dogs and puppies that are treated very badly. There seems to be no laws against cruelty in Greece and the problem is widespread. Many dogs are sent to the UK because we care. We want the Greek government to take responsibility  to educate and penalize anyone causing suffering to dogs. There should be more emphasis put on neutering to avoid unwanted puppies. This subject is very important to many people who want to visit Greece but are put off by the treatment of stray dogs. To portray a new, caring attitude to potential holiday customers would be a good advertisement for the beauty of Greece and the islands. Here in the UK, we have strict laws about animal cruelty and we care very much for them. The Greek tourism industry would be strongly advised to ask their government to do the same so we can go on holiday without witnessing suffering strays.
