Earlier today, the head gamekeeper (Nigel Smith of the Buckminster Estate) responsible for holding a captive fox in cruel conditions was convicted under Section 9 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006. The fox was clearly being held for the benefit of the Belvoir Foxhounds, as they were meeting in the immediate vicinity when he attempted to 'bag it'. Fortunately, investigators from the League Against Cruel Sports had already rescued the fox. This shows once again that the Belvoir Foxhounds are not a trail hunt, and only disguise their nature with deceit. We will continue to call for the Mayor to deny them access to Grantham for good.
